Dec. 13 at 12 p.m.: Celebrate Jane Austen’s 250th Birthday with us at Clyde’s downtown Washington DC location!
Our annual Birthday Luncheon will be held at Clyde’s (Gallery Place) 707 7th St. NW. Lunch will be buffet style with vegetarian options (see menu below). Please indicate any dietary restrictions at checkout. Tickets are $60, payable by Paypal, Zelle, or check. All reservations and payments must be received by Dec. 8, please.
We are delighted to welcome our speaker Dr. Maria Frawley with a talk titled “Jane Austen: A Way With Words.”
Maria Frawley is a professor of English at George Washington University. Her recent book, Jane Austen in 50 Words, explores the distinctive vocabulary that Jane Austen repeatedly drew on to create her signature stories and that enabled her to transform her courtship plots into serious studies of character and conduct. Dr. Frawley has kindly agreed to sign her book after lunch, so bring your copy with you!
