Welcome to the Washington, DC region of the Jane Austen Society of America (JASNA), a nonprofit organization dedicated to the appreciation and enjoyment of the works of English writer Jane Austen (1775-1817). Almost two centuries after her death, Austen’s six major novels—Sense and Sensibility (1811), Pride and Prejudice (1813), Mansfield Park (1814), Emma (1815), and Persuasion and Northanger Abbey (published posthumously in 1818)—continue to inspire, astound, and entertain.

You are invited to join us and meet like-minded individuals for programs that celebrate and explore Austen’s life and work. JASNA-DC has over 200 members from Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia. Like most JASNA regions, we always have a December meeting in honor of Jane Austen’s birthday (December 16); other meetings take place throughout the year as we find speakers, events, or venues likely to be of interest to our members.
